I've spent the last year trying to boost my economics knowledge. (Book Recommendation: Basic Economics by Thomas Sowell.) I am not sure what I think of the bailout but I think it goes like this: You have an irresponsible relative who lived on the edge and now it comes down to you kicking them out on the street or bailing them out. You don't really want to help, but you know you have to. I'm just not sure that any proposal by Congress and the Bush administration is going to be anything more than big government. My first recommendation as a part of any bailout package is that Congress take a pay cut. Most of the rest of the country is going to have to. And this did happen because of their lunacy.

This YouTube is thoroughly researched and you can take the time to read the articles that are shown. But it does answer a lot of questions very handily.
