There Really Is No Good Time

from Ben's mom

My midwife laughed last week when I told her I wasn't ready for the baby and I'd asked it to hold off a bit. "Second-time moms," she said. "They know that it really is easier taking care of it inside than outside."

Somehow I thought that about 3 years apart would be great for a second child. HA! Today Ben pulled the TV over on top of himself. I made it down two flights of stairs in record time and miraculously I haven't started labor as a result. I was sure he would have a broken leg or crushed knee but after some comfort he was up and around and getting into trouble without so much as a limp. There really is no good time to have a second child....

Having written that, we couldn't be more excited to meet this new little one. I feel like I know he/she a little bit and can't wait to see how accurate all my in utero instincts are/were.

That's so sad/funny to hear Ben pulled the TV on himself. I am glad he is not hurt so I can chuckle to myself about it. That would have freaked me out (if I were Ben watching this TV come down onto me.) I can't wait to meet your new little baby!

There's nothing convenient about children, especially not adding one to the mix. I know all about the asthma-during-a-cold thing (we finally got an inhaler for Stuart, saving us runs to the ER for breathing treatments). Pulling the TV over, however, is a new one. That's what you get for having a TV in the house, of course...

We're praying that Baby comes at a good time.

You're popping my bubble here. I thought three years would make it easy. ;-) Reminds me of the guy who was asked how far apart he wanted his children, and replied, "About 100 miles." That should settle the squabbles!

Best wishes on Baby's imminent coming.

I've heard from people who waited 5 or even 10+ years to have another one only to have sibling rivalry and jealousy crop up, not to mention juggling teenagers and toddlers at the same time with no buffer between. Somehow the grass is always greener...

Hope your last few days of pregnancy go easily! Can't wait to hear the news!
