from Ben's mom
As Ben's mom I was very proud of his good behavior during our trip to Texas. He was quite the little trooper and proved himself to have inherited the traveling bug of his parents. His parents, however, are exhausted. No more catching a nap or getting caught up on reading on the plane. Now my experience includes changing a diaper in a plane lavaratory which Ben thought was hilarious. We hit mild turbulence in the process and he enjoyed the massage he received from the bouncing.
It was great to see friends Sherri and Janice and Nathan, Sarah, Jonathan, and Lindsay. I was struck by how much blogs and contact help me stay close. It felt like no time had lapsed.
Friend Will Humble was happy and excited to be marrying Christian. We look forward to getting to know her better. Will left his marriage license in his apartment in San Antonio, so we were able to be useful by retrieving it and delivering it to him in Corpus Christi.
I received a good dose of sunshine and big blue sky--it was 78 degrees down there. It should help with the winter grey here.
I also was able to be at my friend Anna's bridal shower and meet many of her family which I have heard so much about. I will be headed back to San Antonio in mid-December to be Matron on Honor in her wedding.
We were on the way home when Mike said he was missing home and glad to be headed back to Washington. Yes, it is becoming home. And we're glad to be back here.

Here's hoping that our baby will be as well-behaved on flights as Ben! See, Ben, you're already a good role model to others.

AH! So you DID make it to Corpus?! What did you think? Yes, it is exactly the place that *would* make you miss the greenery of home, isn't it? I confess I do not miss Corpus at all and have a great deal of trouble wrenching myself away from Oregon. However did you leave this place, Rachelle!? =) Oh yeah. Adventure and Mike. Hmm.
Yes, I thought of you Carrie and understood why it was possible for you to leave. However, I have to say that it was nice to get some sunshine and warm weather for a few days. But I wouldn't want to be in Corpus in the summer. And Virginia is gorgeous. And it has fall colors and snow. I miss it, but it is good to be back in the NW.
