A Wedding & Riding the Waves

Charlie & Joe Reitz
Mike, Dave, Amber

So the epic road trip has been even more epic.

Saturday (Day 5) we made it to The Outer Banks which has quickly become one of our favorite places on earth. We had fun times with family. Eight of the nine Reitz siblings with spouses and children converged on the OBX along with parents, two aunts, an uncle and a cousin.

We fulfilled Everleigh's request by taking the cousins to the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island. We also took a walk up to the area where the Lost Colony was supposed to have been where I enjoyed the Elizabethan Garden. It was a fun time.

But the highlights were: A celebration of Joe and Charlie and their life together on Sunday. The weather report went from cloudy and cold to warm and sunny and they enjoyed a gorgeous Carolina day for their perfect beach wedding.

Day 8: Mike's brother Matt made the purchase of a small raft which many of us enjoyed to no end. His mom Mary rode the waves, I rode the waves and sustained a cut knee when the waves threw Amber's mouth into my knee. (She has a chipped tooth!) Mike has a bruised or cracked rib from where his ribs collided with his brother Dave's head. Ibuprofen is his friend. Even Ben made it out on the raft and the girls played with cousins and flew kites. Despite generous amounts of sunblock, four of us are pretty red today.

Day 9: We spent the night in the charming little town of New Bern after crossing some beautiful country (at night).

Next up: South Carolina.
