We are home. We are tired. We romped in the Atlantic and came home to Michigan fall. All the leaves are off the maple in the back and we are washing and putting away the summer clothes.
I returned the rented minivan this morning complete with something that was once edible on the seat. We are a little worn, we are all LOVING our beds.
Everyone seems fully recovered; Everleigh went a little longer with the flu virus than the rest of us. If you take a road trip, I highly recommend, a cute little shallow bin from the $1 store that can hold fun stuff. And vomit. Handy. Always bring a roll of paper towels.
We saw 7 states (Ohio, W. Virginia, Virginia, North & South Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky) in 12 days. We decided to come back.
We met up with some wonderful friends and realized how many friends we have strewn across the U.S. We saw fall foliage in all of its glory. We saw lighthouses, swam in the Atlantic, walked back in time. Mike and the girls have tans.
No regrets.

Sounds like a fantastic trip--minus the flu. I have always enjoyed our family trips; but I also enjoy returning home.
