Sadly, I realized I have no pictures of Mom Reitz or Alicia or Matt & Kylie....Chalk it up to a lot of drama.
We hadn't even left D.C. when Everleigh vomited all over herself in the rental car. We cleaned her up, met my aunt and uncle for lunch at Panera and Ev seemed much better. Until I smelled something...And looked over to watch diarrhea dripping onto the floor underneath her high chair. I broke the rules and entered the men's restroom to assist Mike on clean-up duty. We departed for W.V. and not 10 minutes down the road, she threw up again. We cleaned her up in a residential neighborhood and continued another hour down the road and she did it again.
Still just thinking it was something she ate, we weren't too worried. Mike and I joined Matt, Amber & Edgar in a quick trip into town on Friday and when we checked in with his mom, she told us Kyrie had thrown up but seemed fine. Kyrie proceed to throw up 9 more times over the next 11 or 12 hours; then I joined in. Then Ben, Grace, Amber...until at least a dozen people had joined us.
On Friday night everyone was all together and Charlie, Joe's girlfriend went in to labor early Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon, Alexander Michael was born, and promptly exposed to the intestinal flu by several visitors. (I think he stayed well but the pediatrician wasn't too excited when he/she found out.) Matt & Kylie (2) went home early and managed to avoid the whole thing.
The family photo and hayride never happened and poor Mike ended up doing loads and loads of laundry and emptying and reloading the dishwasher countless times (despite little eating going on). He did get sick but not as bad as most.
My bro-in-law Edgar fared the best. Apparently, being born in Mexico provides excellent immunity.

That should definitely rank among the top horrible vacations of all time. At least you can hope it will.
Does it help you feel even a tinsy bit better to know that 1) Lauren was over the bug by Wed night. and 2) N and I never got it?
