Warm, Sunshine at the Beach

We went to friends' beach home in Ocean Park, WA, this weekend. Rachael is one of my oldest friends and was my roommate for awhile. Her husband, Cliff, dreams of running a bed and breakfast, so much that he does it for friends at no charge. He greeted me at the door stating that my 1200 calorie diet ended here and could resume when I left. Did it ever. Breakfasts, especially were amazing.

The weather was sunny and beautiful. A true rarity at the Washington coast. Saturday morning, we woke up and took the kids down to the beach. Everleigh lagged behind the other two and enjoyed watching the grouse run away from us. As we came down the trail to the beach and came up over the dune, she gasped and said, "Ohhhh" when she saw the ocean. It was awesome.

Kyri, Rachael, and I went on a wonderful, exhilarating forest hike at Willapa National Wildlife Refuge. It was short (2/3 mile) but aptly named Cutthroat Climb. Kyrie "led" the hike, saying "Oh my goodness" at least 80 times and landing on her fanny often.

Introduced Mike to driving on the beach....My dad used to take me out for driving lessons as a teen on the Oregon Coast. We drove down the beach for a couple of miles.

We came home through Astoria, OR, one of my former hometowns. Will post more on that later.

I loved ready of Ev's discovery, and instant connection w/ the ocean! Another way that adorable baby girl is mine... My prayer is that the ocean will soothe her the way it does me, through her entire life!

Looks like everyone was having a great time. Isn't the beach just the best place in the world? This from a Pisces, but still.

I thought the beach would be the safest place to learn. Oh, I loved that car... I wonder if the Coast Guard ever found it?
