7 Quick Bits

  • Need to read the book Give Them Grace, this post reviews: My two oldest children are identified exactly in paragraph 7 and just reading this was a good reminder to keep eternal perspective. Parenting books, Christian and otherwise, so often fail in that regard.
  • Everleigh wins the award for Commitment to Dental Hygiene Award in our household. She can be found, meticulously brushing, at least three times a day. Who knows? Maybe our family will finally get the dentist it has been expecting for so long.
  • Put up a Facebook page for Very Light Suitcase. Just can't seem to get to Twitter. Sigh.
  • Tomorrow is an important golf tournament. It is scheduled to "shower." In July. In which we have had record low temperatures for July in western Washington. (I know, we could be having record highs like the rest of the country.)
  • Today I discovered Ben had gotten a head start on his second-grade handwriting book. It is probably the first and last year I will use a set "curriculum" for handwriting for him and he hasn't been as enthused about it. This is the transition to cursive year and he is incredulous that he could ever learn to write like that. So I was happy to discover he had gone ahead and started the book. I should probably check his other books.
  • More on schooling later. I'm definitely benefiting from having friends who are professional teachers as well as close friends who are homeschooling their older kids and giving me great insight.
  • Mike forgot his lunch today and told me he could come eat with us. I quickly made this yummy Melon Gazpacho (quite yummy without prosciutto). It was pretty much a sorbet before being frozen and my kids hunkered down and whined and complained like I was trying to kill them. Once tried, it was loved.
