Deep Breath

Know that if you ever declare you are going to be working on something, life will start to throw obstacles at you:
  • Your baby will get sick with some unknown virus and want to be held for three days straight.
  • You will then be so behind on life that you will take at least another three days to unbury.
  • Your two older children will be attention-deprived and engage in a competition to see who can distract you from writing with the most success. (They both win.)
I'm going to try again next week. In the meantime, I'm just exhausted at the thought of querying publications. And I need to write for The Examiner before they cut me off. (I have 60 days between posts before I say goodbye to any teeny tiny bits of money I might have earned.)

The good news is that I have been married for 8 years. Eight wonderful, beautiful years to a wonderful and amazing man who forgives my many mistakes, supports my effort to do more than I can, and took me to dinner and a movie last night to celebrate.

We saw The King's Speech, for which I hope Colin Firth takes home an Oscar at the end of the month. Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter were amazing too. It was a great story, a bit of Anglo history I was not familiar with, and a wonderful movie.
