It's a Small World After All

Sunday, my friend Anna was married in Portland.  Anna was in my discipleship group when she was in Jr. High and I was 21. She has kept in touch ever since. She has become a friend and has lived an adventurous life thus far. She has been a flight attendant for Jet Blue for the last five years as is her husband Danny. (They offered me a buddy pass to Boston which is about the coolest gift a person could give ME.) Before that, she trained as a dancer and has danced in Branson, MO, Chicago, and other places. She used to drive those bicycles with a carriage for passengers in Central Park. The girl has LIVED.

When Anna lived in NYC, two newlywed friends of ours, Will & Christian, moved there for a job. I thought how cool it would be for them to meet Anna and knew she could help them connect to a good church, among other things. So I asked if she wouldn't meet them. I knew they had made contact but neither mentioned anything to me, until a couple of years later when Anna let me know Christian was coming to visit her family in Portland with her and would I be able to come see the two of them. It was then I discovered a real friendship had been born.

Thus Will & Christian and their charismatic son Hank spent the weekend with us and we went to a super fun wedding. As the bride and groom both work for Jet Blue, each table was assigned an airport code (to a city Jet Blue flies to) and each family picked up a luggage tag with their family name and airport code table assignment. We came home with a luggage tag, among other things. Very fun idea!

Meanwhile, at the ceremony there was a couple that looked so familiar but I couldn't place them. I knew they were "out of context" but I couldn't find the context. Fortunately, they recognized us. It was the parents of another friend Nathan, that Mike had worked at HSLDA with back in Virginia. And of course, we knew Will from there and he knew them as well. It turns out that Nathan's dad had worked with Anna's dad.

I had several other friends there and we had a great time with the Paparazzi photo booth.
