Kindergarten

I won't get in the habit of posting my children's grades but after making Ben's kindergarten report card (and yes, I just finished it this week), it occurred to me that it might be helpful for someone else. I wanted a record of what we did this year and I also wanted to know if I was missing anything. I found several kindergarten transcripts online and combined them. A few differences: 1) I left off things like "Can fasten clothes" and "Is able to tie shoes." And 2) I just used a final grade, vs. marking his progress quarterly. (I may do a mid-year progress report with 1st grade but I'm definitely not going to do it quarterly.) 3) I left off the section for "books read." I long ago realized we are going to be reading so much that we aren't going to have time to document this.

I couldn't figure out how to post a usable version on blogger but anyone who wants to use this could email me and I'll send it in word for easy manipulation. The Word version has this in two nice columns and has Ben's name, picture, and the year at the top. Because we follow a classical model of education, there are things not listed on this section and I was inclined to change "Social Studies" to "Humanities." I decided to keep it simple and just record this information. After all, a goal of home education is to make it absolutely impossible to document all your child has learned, right?
