Fall Again

  • We've had monsoon-like rain for the last week. Mike had a fundraiser golf tournament scheduled for last Thursday that had to be canceled due to standing water on the course. I can't remember a week this wet in September before.
  • There is a fire going in the fireplace right now. Monday Night Football. Soup on the stove.
  • Everleigh has a nasty cold and low-grade fever. She doesn't complain; but she will start silently crying. It is heartbreaking.
  • Yesterday, we had a break in the rain and I went out to salvage some tomatoes off the vines. I saw a little tree frog and caught it, much to Ben's delight. He put it in his science bucket with the magnifying lid and he and Kyri enjoyed it for a couple of hours. When I called them in for dinner, I told them the frog's mom would worry if he wasn't home by dinner and so they let him go. My mom and her mom were both frog-catching kind of women. I've never been that so I was pretty impressed with myself.
  • I received a full color slick brochure from Clairol on the merits of using their hair color products. I have to assume they purchase the names of women having major mid-life birthdays. And that would be me. So fall is really here.

Happy Birthday early. Frog holding: so proud of you!
I hope Evie is better very soon. Hate to think of the little one silently crying. Breaks my heart.
Football, fire, soup: summer is over for sure.
