Earlier this week the kids and I were eating lunch when Ev started crying in her high chair. I sprinted up the stairs to find a pacifier and suddenly all was quiet. I came back with the pacifier to find her with a blissful look on her face.
"I gave her a cookie," Kyri said.
Sure enough. I found oatmeal in her mouth. She really liked that cookie. Not really what I had in mind for one of her first foods.

I made up a song as soon as I got home with Phillip, to the tune of "London Bridge":
"Only milk for Baby Pip
Baby Pip
Baby Pip
Only milk for Baby Pip
Don't feed him --- "
And then I'd fill in the blank with whatever I thought Daphne would consider a good food to feed the baby. Thus Phillip avoid the oatmeal cookies. But Evie sure lucked out. :)

Clara gave Sophia a spoon of peanut butter a few weeks ago. Don't you love it?
I think if I have kids I'm going to be freaked out about potential food allergies. Sigh.
But obviously a cookie is what you give the baby to make her stop crying. Way better than a pacifier. :-)
cookies: comfort food at an early age.
