Moving is like childbirth. You labor and labor and make it through the big push to get everything into the new place and you think you should be done. But actually, you've just gotten started and the real work comes when you're completely depleted.
Well, we've delivered and now we are dealing with a newborn house. Stacks of boxes everywhere and total exhaustion and mounds of laundry and little food in the house. But also, a sense of relief. The keys to the old place are turned in and thanks to my parents and many friends, we have made it this far. (Thanks to Scott Roberts who took a few pictures.)
Moving morning we had 9 friends show up to give us support and the loading and unloading was done in less than two hours. We all celebrated with pizza and sent most people home. My friend Amy stayed four more hours and helped get the kitchen organized. As much as we cleaned this place before we moved in, it is still dirty and so we find ourselves cleaning again as we unpack. My parents arrived early in the afternoon and helped with the kids and unpacking. Over the next two days, Mike and my mom and dad thoroughly cleaned our old place. Mike told me he wouldn't help Kyrie as much as they helped me. Mike took pictures to document how clean we left the old place and I took the keys and turned them in last night.
Meanwhile, the home front got interesting. Saturday afternoon about 4pm, a moody Kyrie started falling asleep wherever she was and informed me her head hurt. Soon she had a fever. Mike took care of her in the middle of the night and then I noticed while nursing Everleigh that she was warm too. Kyri was sick for about 36 hours and did a good job of resting and wanted to take baths all the time. She was actually easier to deal with while sick and slept a little more. Ev also maintained good spirits and her fever was short-lived.
Sunday afternoon, Ben told me his head hurt really bad and he went and put himself to sleep. He felt good enough to eat a little soup for dinner but he had the fever too. He was worse then the girls and Sunday p.m./Monday a.m. we got very little sleep. Ben threw up everything he'd eaten and them some and went through several pairs of pajamas and we changed sheets and did laundry in the middle of the night. His fever remained high until it broke sometime in the middle of last night.
My parents left yesterday afternoon and even though I have a lot to do, we are all in recovery mode. Kyrie is having a hard time making the adjustment to her own room. So sleep is hard to come by. She cried off and on through the night and when I got up early this morning to nurse Everleigh, I found Kyrie sleeping on our floor. Ben is delighted to have his own room but Kyri, not so much. We would love to have Ev in there with her but she is so loud and such a light sleeper, that for now we have the crib in our room.
Here's hoping everyone takes a nap today. At the same time.

Oh my. A move with 3 kids and they all end up sick. Hope you and Mike manage to stay well. Great to have friends and family to help.
Hope you all get some sleep tonight.

You are a brave woman. Last week I had one day where my 2.5 year old nephew I babysit and my 1 year old son didn't take a nap at the same time. Holy cow do I need nap time to stay sane! That day took it out of me. Praying for you to get some time to recharge.
