Birthday Girl

Three years ago today I met my wide-eyed active girl face-to-face. She entered our world by doing a partial flip as she was half-way out so she could see the voices she was hearing. She locked eyes with me as soon as she was put on my chest and looked into my heart. Parenting her has been one of my greatest challenges. And one of my greatest joys.

She has been looking forward to this birthday for a long time now and will happily tell you she's "five." ("No, you're three." "Oh, 3.") She has charmed many, including her brother who loves her to death. She recently learned how to spell her name and let us know that she prefers "Kyrie" to "Kyri." Now, as she prepares to give up her "baby" status in our family, she is growing into her years with energy, enthusiasm, and a lot of love to give.
