Every morning I run into the same problem. Getting all the chores done and maybe some exercise in before "school time." This morning I was cutting corners as usual and trying to get just a little more done before settling down into school.
Kyri went and found the Bible/Faith book and came back and said "Mama, Bible/Faith time."
We do most of Ben's school during her nap time so she doesn't have a fit at being left out. She thinks she's ready for school, even if her mom thinks 2 is WAY too soon.
Meanwhile, Ben is slower to get started (like me) but has a hard time stopping. Today he was diligently working on art and I kept reminding him lunch was at hand. "Just a few more minutes." Likewise, he begs to do "two more pages" of his Mathematical Reasoning (and he calls it that too) every day. He has completed 20% of the book and that is with me imposing a time limit.
We purchased a globe last week which is kept in Ben's room and he loves to gaze at it already. They both have the travel bug as evidenced by my asking Kyri today: What are we going to do today? "Go on an airplane!" she said. Sorry, child. Not for a long time.
Though it is too early to pigeon-hole them, so far I have two academically-minded, travel-loving children. I wonder how that happened.

I can so relate to trying to get stuff done before starting school and then I feel guilty about delaying our school start time. And then I look at other moms who do day care and formal preschool and get their shopping and chores in during that time, without children. Then I get depressed that I have to do it ALL. But after a good day of school with Meredith I know I wouldn't trade it. Sigh ...
I hope it lasts and that they both always have a joy for learning. Enjoy this early stage and don't stress too much about the house and chores. :) Ha ha... I know I am not evening to the schooling point and I feel that way some days. Tell Ben I think it's really cool he has a globe!
