Trader Joes

I battled long lines and crazy crowds yesterday to make a few purchases during the grand opening of the Olympia Trader Joe's. The lines snaked clear down the aisles. Some people didn't realize they were in line but thought they were shopping. Others thought they were in line and didn't realize it extended three or four more shopping carts behind them. Everyone seemed good natured and employees were restocking with hand-shopping carts because they couldn't get anything bigger down the aisles.

The one advantage to going on opening day was a free reusable shopping bag which also makes a great beach tote.

And Mike is glad we will no longer have to trek 45 minutes to Tacoma to shop at Trader Joe's.

TRADER JOE'S IS A CULT! But I wouldn't mind having one close enough to try out.

You're so right Sara! And Mike laughed because he said he was sitting outside in the car and said he didn't know there were that many attractive well-dressed middle class women in all of Olympia. :)

NOT A CULT.

Another awesome thing about those bags, at least here in Cali, is that if you take your own bag back the next time you shop, you get your name entered in a drawing for a free $25 worth of groceries for that week.

We're trekking there today.

But uh, was Mike being sarcastic? I didn't think TJ's was the type of store that catered to the (ahem) well-dressed set. I always got more of a hippie vibe in there...

Kristen--Not at all. The Olympia Food Co-op is the hippie store. TJ's is all yuppy.

Ah, I see. J and I only saw (and smelled) a few hippies at TJ's yesterday so you must be right.
