Seattle Children's Museum

It has been a long time since we have been to the Seattle Children's Museum. Actually, it has been a long time since we've all been to Seattle.
But things converged so that I decided to take the kids up yesterday. 1) Mike is in Green Bay until Sunday serving as a groomsman in his law school friend Josiah's wedding. 2) Curious George is the current featured exhibit at the Museum. And we love Curious George.

Missi and Jade
came with us making it a lot more fun for all of us.
My kids were enthralled; Ben had some time alone in the construction area while Missi watched both girls. Kyri had to work on her social skills as she knocked little boys flat on their rears if they came close to where she was playing.
I found out that the Rey's (authors of the Curious George books) were Jews who wrote about a French monkey named Fifi in the late 30s. They escaped as the Nazis advanced on Paris on bicycles and rode to Spain and departed for Brazil. From there they made it to New York City where Parisian Fifi became Manhattan George and the rest, as they say, is history.
We came back home and ate popcorn and watched Benji. The mom cleaned up more graffiti art and tried to get everyone to bed before she crashed.

Random fun piece of trivia: H. A. Rey was my (Jewish) grandmother's cousin, and came to visit her, my grandfather, my mom, and her brothers once. In fact, he painted a picture which was hanging in my grandmother's house for many years, with a caption explaining that Cecily the giraffe had come to my grandparents' home to share tea with my mom and uncles. =)

He also wrote a delightful book on stargazing.

Glad you had such a good time at the museum!

We just got back from the Indy CM today. Meredith misses the Curious George exhibit a lot. I think we got it just before you guys. She is very disappointed that they brought in a Lego exhibit instead. Ha!

Kyri doesn't wait for anybody to push her around, does she? Love the pictures.
