Fireproof

from the mom

During a full exhausting weekend, I snuck out with my mom (who needed a little break from the hospital) and saw Fireproof. I cringed a few times during the first five minutes. One scene was just too sappy and the acting seemed stilted. Then it took off. The Kendrick brothers way out-performed (artistically and financially) their last release Facing the Giants.

Fireproof is an intense drama that deals with the nitty gritty of a marriage gone wrong (and hits squarely the major issues of troubled marriages in 21st century America). The use of a firefighter brings some good suspense. But I was most impressed with the humor. When things got a bit intense, a long would come humor to break up the tension. The firehouse guys were awesome.

Christians who don't foray to the theatre much should see this movie to send a message to Hollywood that we want GOOD entertainment. Everyone who believes marriage is worth fighting for should see this movie to shore up the leaky spots. And everyone else should go for some thoughtful (but enjoyable) entertainment.

Glad you and your mom got a short break and that you were there for each other. Love you guys,
