from the mom, Ben & Kyri
Shamelessly lifted from QofC to commemorate three year anniversary of this blog (June 24).
How did you start blogging?
Ben: I can't remember how we got started. I wasn't even 1 but Mom has mentioned she hesitated to start because she was sure she only had material for a few weeks. Without my contributions she wouldn't have lasted long at all.
Did you intend to be a blog w/a following? If so, how did you go about it?
The Mom: I actually just needed to have a creative outlet for all the cute things Ben was doing at the time. And then I thought it would be a good way to keep a few close friends and family updated. Someone will frequently mention reading something on the blog and I still get a little startled. For security reasons our blog isn't listed on search engines so I'm always a little surprised when new people start reading it.
What do you hope to achieve or accomplish with your blog? Have you been successful? If not, do you have a plan to achieve those goals?
The Mom: I want a record of the interesting and unique little people my children are on their path to adulthood. And I want a place where I can somewhat engage people in thought. I miss that about the workplace and I live for comments that let me know I can still communicate.
Has the focus of your blog changed since you started blogging? How?
Ben: I wrote a lot of those early posts and now I'm just too busy learning things. Mom has really taken over and then Kyri's come on to help.
What do you know now that you wish you'd known when you started?
Kyri: That being born in this family means people know a whole lot about you, things you aren't sure you want them to know but you're too little to do anything about.
Do you make money with your blog?
The Mom: Ha! I wish.
Does your immediate or extended family know about your blog? If so, do they read it? If not, why?
Kyri: Of course. Most do. Especially my most devoted fans. Some are really busy or don't have internet access.
What two pieces of advice would you give to a new blogger?
The Mom: 1. Try to avoid using a blog to simply be a record. I slip into that from time to time and it gets boring. Engage the world around you.
The Kids: 2. Remember that anything you say or do and any picture or video is fodder. That can be scary.
How did you come to name your blog?
The Mom: Titles have never been my strong point. The title is just what it is.

And we enjoy it. Just as it is.
