New Home (Rachelle)

from Ben's mom

I'll spare you a lot of moving stories. Suffice it to say:

1) We have great friends! Thanks to Mom, J & Kristen, Jonathan & Missi, Dan & Amanda, and our church family. Many hands make light work and everyone was nice to me when my brain shut off 20 minutes into it.
2) This shouldn't be done while pregnant.
3) They don't cover "moving styles" in pre-marital counseling. It should be added. I am slow and methodical; my way would take a good month to complete. M is fast. I like his way better; I just can't seem to think that way.

Our life over the last week has gone like this:

Weds: Take Ben to Portland to meet my mom and stay with his grandparents for a few days.
Thursday: See the midwife. Have an incredibly bad bout of "morning sickness"--not great timing. Try to pack.
Friday: Pack. Mike got off a couple of hours early and we packed until we ran out of boxes and then drove to Yakima for a family reunion.
Sat-Sun: Enjoy family at the family reunion. Our son doesn't like Yakima's pollen/pesticide environment and had an asthma attack. He struggled with breathing the whole time and was very glad to leave.
Mon: Move.
Tues: Clean the old apartment.
Weds: Take my mom to a doctor's appt. in Portland and then put her on the train to go the rest of the way home. While there, I lost my keys (temporarily) and then we had car trouble. Fortunately, it was just the belly pan that broke and was dragging on the ground and a nice guy at a gas station temporarily rigged it so it wouldn't drag. The keys were on top of the car.
Thurs (Today): Take M to meet several co-workers at 6am who are carpooling to Seattle for a policy conference put on by M's employer. They all looked like a million bucks and will work through the night as they host John Stossel of FOX who speaks at the banquet tonight. I was invited but dressing up, finding a babysitter, and being out late just didn't appeal at the end of this particular week.

Well, it is is 7:30 and like me, Ben thought this getting up at 6am thing was for the birds, so he asked to go back to bed about 15 minutes ago. He'll tell you about his new home later.
