FAQ

from Ben's mom

1) How are you feeling? Are you still sick? Yes. Ugh. Unfortunately. At 19 weeks, it looks like I won't have a change there. But fortunately, it has eased somewhat and I am learning to deal with it.

2) Are you wearing maternity clothes yet? I was refusing to until Saturday when I both pairs of pants that I could still wear were in the laundry and I couldn't squeeze into anything else. I was feeling horrible and fat and then I discovered I still haven't gained back all of the weight I lost in the first trimester. So that is really all BABY.

3) Any pictures to post? NO. Maybe later. I'm not too fond of pregnancy pictures of myself.

4) Are you eating differently? I'm finding it hard to enjoy cooking but my midwife came up with some necessary foods for me based on what the baby and I need: beets, greens, flax (I eat it on cereal), cottage cheese, and hard-boiled eggs. I have relied a lot on yogurt in the past but discovered that it has high fructose corn syrup, which I am avoiding like the plague.

5) Do you want a boy or a girl? Emotionally, I would be happy with either. So from a practical perspective, I pulled out all our baby clothes to see if we have enough to make do if we had a girl. We could probably make it through size 3-6 months, which was encouraging. So I really don't care. I would be delighted with either.

6) Official due date? Nov. 6.

Yeah for not gaining back all the weight!
Can't wait to see pix!
Have fun eating those hard boiled eggs... and do you think you could hold off two days?? :)

I love you Lindsay but NO, I can't wait until your birthday. I am very committed to the baby coming early. I am hoping for Oct. (But if I can't have my wish and it's Nov. 7, I'll tell the baby to wait a day.) rlr

i had the same problem with yogurt, but i managed to rummage around at our grocery store and find some organic stuff that was sweetened with only cane sugar and had at least 6 active live cultures. it was a little more expensive though, so i rationed mine carefully :-) they even had it in drinkable form!

Poor Rachelle! I hope it gets better soon!

Regarding yogurt, you might want to check into getting your own yogurt maker. I got one for my birthday and LOVE it - I make fresh yogurt every 2-3 days, and enjoy feeding whole milk yogurt to Jane as well. You make it yourself, so you know it's only milk and culture, and then you can add your own sweetening if you like (although I'm still trying to learn to like the tart flavour straight) - try honey, maple syrup, fresh fruit, etc.

You can get them for about $40 on Amazon, but I bet you could find a nice used one on E-bay or craigslist.

Still sick at 19 weeks. That's very sad. But it's great that you're in your maternity clothes because of Baby and not because your body is going into fat-storage overdrive.

Funny, I'm committed to my Baby coming early, too. I just don't know if I've communicated that sufficiently to the actual person responsible.
