Obviously You've Never Held My Job

from Ben's mom

Last weekend at a family gathering, two male members of my extended family both asked me: What do you do with your time? They both indicated that just taking care of Ben sounded like it would leave me a lot of spare time.... It was really only when the second one asked that I thought about it. Yes, somedays I get to do some extra reading and once every couple of weeks, I get a nap. But I work 24/7 and I am still looking for that spare time I was hoping for.

Amen! I never imagined how time-consuming it would be to take care of a child in addition to running a household and trying to get dinner on the table. Some days things feel especially hectic since I'm working a little on the side. I often think that if I did NOT work it would STILL be crazy busy and I would never, ever be bored!!

It's made me think more about working moms. They are busy too but it's different since they get a "break" from their kids during the day while they're at a desk job (or whatever). People think that just because you're a SAHM and don't have a 9-5 job, you should have time on your hands. So not true!

The nice thing about marrying a guy who was homeschooled is they know just how much work is involved. In which case, it matters less that hardly anybody else does anymore.

I say, let them try it for a day!

especually when your post below indicates just how many more "spare" hours of the day you usually missed that you got to experience... hope all is well with your family and that you're recovering from the devastating loss of the Seahawks.

I think a husband can be sensitive to his wife's needs (and schedule) without having been homeschooled.
