The Weekend in Review

from Ben's mom

We had a simple weekend. Mike worked on a long list of neglected household projects, fixing toys and chairs. He also read a book for fun and slept a lot and he and Ben had some good times chasing each other around.

Sunday afternoon we explored N. Olympia which is the sound end of the Puget Sound. So we drove to Boston Harbor, and around the other fingers. We were surprised to find really nice houses next to absolute dumps and some of the dumps had the most amazing views of the Sound and Mt Rainier.

Simple things like grocery shopping together kept us busy and happy to have free time once again. We also found a garage sale that had over 1000 books for .25 each. We went with $10 and Mike bought a book, Ben bought a book, and that left me with 38. I bought some to resell and picked up a couple of extra copies of really helpful pregnancy and parenting books to give to friends. Of couse some of the books I hoped to resell have turned out to be so intriguing that I am trying to find room for them among my keepers.

Concerning dumps next to mansions . . . Kevin mentioned to me once that it's amazing how some of the poorest people in the world have the best views from their frontyards! (I think he mentioned this as we were driving through WV one time.)
