from Ben's mom
Last Christmas I was 8+ months pregnant and for the first time, felt I had some kind of real glimpse into the life of Mary. I remember getting in the car to drive the an hour and 15 minutes to Maryland to my aunt and uncle's house and thinking, "This could be a donkey. How would I do?" Truthfully, there was a lot of complaining about walking down the stairs at that point.
Two weeks and two days later when I was laboring in a controlled environment, surrounded by health care professionals, Mike, and my mom, I didn't think about Mary. But reflecting back.... A stable, even the Hilton of stables, is no place to have a baby. And what teenage girl would want to do this without even her mom around? But Mary obeyed a big God with a grand vision who sent His Son into the lowliest position so that we might look down upon our little God in a manger as we look up to Him, our hope.
May you bring Him all your gifts this year.
