Now Dad's A Believer (Almost)

I think I've told you before about Mom's little Ebay addiction. Well, about a month ago Mom and I went to a garage sale and she picked up a bunch of children's books for a total of 14.75. She said they were for me (Mom, you did too. I heard you tell the lady when you paid her.) and I think she meant it too. But then she started to get curious about what these books would have cost her on Ebay/half.com. That's when it all started. Ben, some of these are rare, out-of-print books. I think we could make a good profit here. Ah-hem. Thus, Mom the business woman. And I have to admit that we sold 4 of more than a dozen books for $23. But it gets better....

The next day, Dad had changed his tune a little and even went with us to a garage sale. He became very excited to see a lot of old, perfect condition books. Mom found some Discovery Toys for a total of $8 and turned around and sold them for over $40. This time she bought me a bunch of cool toys like a car steering wheel that makes noises, a phone that has kid sounds, and a set of toy keys that have the push buttons that make sounds like a car alarm. She said that she can buy me more things with her profits. Sounds good to me.

But now Dad is back to wondering if she will net anything after buying things for me at garage sales and on Ebay.

Dads are kind of picky that way. They don't understand the joy of commerce. Shopping is to be conquered, not indulged in! --DJ
