Yesterday was a sunny day and when Dad came home from work, Mom had a bagel toasted for him and had me bundled up. "Let's go for a walk around Capitol Lake before dinner," she said. So were off.
We stopped and Mom fed the ducks some bread. I have never seen colored ducks up close before, just in books.(I touched a soft white fluffy one at the fair.) I was very excited and wanted to see what they felt like. I stuck my hand out and.... Saved by Dad who pulled it back just as the duck took a swipe at it. He thought I had bread too. We had a nice walk, but it was cold. I finally had to agree that it was best I keep my hat on this time. (Sometimes Mom makes me wear it just because it looks cute.) I saw lots of dogs, in all sizes. I looked at Mom and she said, "Yes, Ben, I know you want a dog. But you need to wait until you're old enough to take care of it." Okay, I guess I can wait.
