I Hope You Get a Child Just Like You....

from Ben's mom

Parents ever say that to you? Well, lately I've noticed a phenomenon I can't believe. My 9-month old is bored with toys and wants his books. Today, he wouldn't go down for a nap despite being totally exhausted. He didn't want to play and whined at that. So, finally I put him in his crib with a few books and left him to try that. He was perfectly happy and I could hear him talking for about 8 minutes. A few minutes later I discovered he'd gone to sleep reading his books. His father and I both have confessed to sneaking flashlights under the covers to read when we were young. It looks like we may have one just like us on our hands.

I too am guilty of trying to read late at night. It's really hard to do when you share a room with your older sister, who prefers to go to sleep when the lights go out and not be disturbed by a light on the other side of the room. :)

I used to sneak my lamp under my covers to read. It got very warm under there, and I'm lucky that I never burnt down the house.

Long live reading at night!

We still have that lamp. It heats the room on cold days. I was horrified when I found out it that *that* lamp he used to put under his covers. -- SJ

Well, it goes back a generation beyond that, too, as in order to read my book a day during grade school, I read by flashlight under the covers....And I still read myself to sleep at night...MRB
