The Joy of Bookshelves

I already know that books are great. But yesterday I discovered the joy of bookshelves. Mom was working on my baby book in my room and so she let me sit and play with some toys and watch her work. Lately I've noticed that I can scoot around and sometimes, if I'm quiet about it, I can end up in places before Mom notices. So I discovered my bookshelf. And I pulled a lot of things out before Mom said, "hey Ben, what are you doing?" Then I pulled my toy crates on top of me and I was surrounded by all my toys. It was a great afternoon.

Mom passed a major test yesterday and I feel much better about being left alone with her. I decided to eat some packing tape (we were opening the mail together) and besides not being tasty as I had hoped, it got stuck in my throat. I panicked a bit because I knew Dad wasn't home and he has always been the one to help me breathe again. But after a few seconds of hysteria, Mom pulled it together and dug it out of my throat. We were both relieved.
