Yesterday I received a letter from my grandpa's cousin Keith. We met recently at a family wedding and he remembered that I had been very nice to him, even though he was just a stranger then. So he wrote a very nice letter to thank me and to make sure I knew I had very nice parents. And -- this was particularly nice and unexpected -- he sent me $25 to spend on whatever I wanted. Once again, Mom suggested the college fund. I politely pointed out that I am 7 1/2 months old and don't even have a highchair; perhaps college could wait?
So this morning we dropped Dad off at work and went to people's houses to look for stuff. I thought that was really weird. Things got off to a rocky start when Mom used MY money to buy a pair of overalls. ("They're only $1, Ben.") But at the next house I got to try out a highchair and I really liked it. So we bought it for $7, which Mom says is a steal. Then we found a house with TOYS! Mom asked me what I liked and I picked out three toys. Then I was ready to come home and play with them. But Mom won't let me until she's disinfected them. Whatever for? They look good to me.
That was really fun and I still have $10. And tonight I will get to eat with Mom and Dad at the table.

Wow! What a bargain shopper your mom is. Sitting at the table at the same level as your parents will certainly make eating meals much more enjoyable. Of course you won't be a little boy if you don't finger paint with your applesauce and peas or drop your oatmeal or creamed rice on the floor. Extra points for any food that is smeared from your left to right ears. :) - Your friend way back in Virginia, Sarah
