Today marks a decade of Ben!
The day when your child begins to know more about some things than you, their parent does, has come for me. Ben can explain what the ablative and dative cases of Latin are, for instance. He can make Lego creations I can't even fathom; he is better at construction and engineering and knows how to post to this blog. If I can't figure out the TV or computer, I call for Ben.
Ben's never been much of a morning person. He loves to lay in bed at night and think but rousing him in the morning is a bit of a chore. He will listen to me read for hours while he works on a drawing project or Legos. He is an excellent student, and a conscientious observer of life. Lately I've watched him take responsibility for things (when he cleans up the mess when the garbage bag spills as he is taking it out) and when he determinedly works to put something together.
Last night his sister brought up that his entry to the world was not an easy one; not on him and not on me. Even then, when life was hard, he remained calm. He didn't cry or fuss, just gazed up at me. We are blessed to be able to raise this little guy up and watch him reach into manhood. It is happening so fast.
