Yesterday I took Kyrie on a little date. I had purchased an Amazon Local deal for a local sewing shop/cafe that offers mother/daughter sewing classes once a week.
(re)Fabulous is really fabulous and I loved the concept. For $10, Kyrie and I had a 2-hour class with materials/equipment included and we each received a cafe drink. I chose yesterday because I thought the theme (make a hair clip) was fun and useful. We made two ("and this one is for Evie" Kyrie said) and you can kind of see them here.
My grandmother was an artful sewer; my mother sews. My mother gave me a sewing machine for my 20th birthday that has been stored for 20+ years and not used. I did not LOVE this experience because I had to operate a needle and thread and tie little teeny knots. But Kyrie did love this experience and I'm hopeful that she will put my sewing machine to work. And I loved the chance to be with my daughter. We had lunch at Panera afterward and then bought the week's groceries. "Mom, can we have another date next week?" she asked. We will soon, I hope. But I'm going to see if my mother wants to take her on her next date to (re)Fabulous.

Beautiful pictures of Kyrie and I love the hair clips. Kyrie is so generous to give one to her little sister.
Sewing machine: what is that? Sewing period: Gary sews buttons on better than me.
So glad you had a mother/daughter day. That will always be a special memory for you both I am sure.

What a fun trip and treat! The hair clips are cute, but Kyrie is way cuter. She is looking so much more like her momma these days! It's so amazing how fast they grow. I love that she wanted to share with her sister also. Fun!
