Things That Warm My Heart

These things have made me happy and made me feel I am using my BA in Humanities:

  • Ben asked a guest if they would like to learn to draw like Degas. (I'm thrilled he can say "Degas" correctly; that he knows how to take a black piece of paper and pastel chalks and draw like Degas is icing on the cake.)
  • After being introduced to Igor Stravinsky I wanted Ben to listen to Rite of Spring. He instantly covered his ears, acting as the original hearers did. I went into another room and soon he ran in asking, "Could I find The Firebird on YouTube?" Stravinksky composed The Firebird for a ballet.
  • Ben made up a board game to play with his dad. We found this particularly reminiscent of his Uncle Mark.
  • When I told Ben that we would begin school in two weeks, he said, "YAY!"

Jimminy crickets, that boy is so much smarter than me. I probably did not spell Jimminy correctly. Ben can tell me when I see him.

Ben, my hearing is still not great so have pity on your old friend.

I would like to buy that boardgame for Mark for Christmas. I'm sure he'll love it.

Ben and Meredith would be fast friends. She drew a ballerina on the sidewalk at her grandma's and told us it was like Degas. She also loves school. When I have a bad day Mer is my salvation. These things do go a long way to encourage us tired moms!!
