Opportunity to Help

Update 8/11/11: Dale continues to improve slowly. He was moved from the ICU to another floor yesterday afternoon. Physical therapy has started coming to his room for treatments yesterday as well. They should be doing an MRI this morning. This will show if it is okay to remove the neck brace. Physical therapy will continue again today. Dale slept well last night!   **Also, the family was able to reinstate their previous insurance through COBRA since it had been under 90 days;  they have to back-pay for two months and it is very expensive still BUT better than not having insurance!

Dale Ostrander, was swept out to sea in an undertow last Friday and was dead for approximately 20 minutes before amazingly, reviving. Every step of his recovery has been declared miraculous, by medical personnel and others. I heard about this story from a member of his church that was on a camp out when this 12-year old boy was swept out to sea in an undertow in Long Beach, WA. In less five days the national media has taken it up.

The thing that has moved me to action is this: This family had no insurance benefits; the father had started a new job and was a month away from his benefits taking effect. This family has immense bills and like many families, they were already suffering due to tough times. If you would like to know more about how to meet their needs, please check out Prayers for Dale. There is a link for paypal donations as well as a way to mail a check for them to their church.

Here is the story by a photojournalist who happened to be close by that day: http://photoblog.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/08/10/7326710-dramatic-rescue-boy-revived-after-being-sucked-out-to-sea?gt1=43001. And here is Komo 4 news with the title: "God Can Work Miracles..."
