Weekend Getaway

Since we had won tickets to two different plays on two different dates last weekend, we decided to try our luck with Priceline and maybe skip driving up and back two days in a row. We successfully managed a 3-star hotel by the airport for $48+tax (total=$62). It included breakfast with a waffle bar and so this family of five had a night in a hotel and breakfast for less than a tank of gas. A great deal. And a trial run for future upcoming travels.

We learned:
  • if you can afford a suite, do it. Trying to get three children to sleep in one room was not restful.
We discovered a wonderful authentic Irish pub that took me back to my Ireland trip in '94. They had a Foosball table that kept the kids occupied while we waited for our food to arrive. We met friends at a cute little neighborhood cafe on Sunday. It was the kind of place where your biggest challenge is where to park a Honda Pilot in a 2-mile radius.

The girls and I explored Seattle Center on an unexpectedly sunny day while Ben and Mike saw one play. Ben took Evie and Ben to a coffee shop with a play area while Kyri and I saw her play the following day. It was a really great weekend; sadly, our fairy godmother forgot to do the weekend cleaning while we were away.

Sounds like a good time was had by all. If you find the cleaning fairy, send her my way will you please?
