I heard myself telling someone last night that we were being a little more austere for Advent because we were tired of being sick rather than for spiritual reasons. And I hated it.
Just like I hate it when people ask when we decorate for Christmas and I respond, "Whenever I get to it."
I really want to be one of those women who have the umph to make things happen against all odds. Within reason. And instead I feel like I'm reacting.
But we are in the midst of a busy season of lives. And it is physically impossible to achieve all the things we would like to do to mark each season. The good news is that it forces us to order our priorities. Which is the really important meaning of Advent. Align your life to the most important things....His coming. All the rest is fluff.
