Mommy Goes Shopping

My friend Amy turned 40 this year too and so the two of us have been planning to head out to a spa or something special for months now. Sunday afternoon, we finally made it out shopping (to Tacoma) which is a really big deal in my life. I'm not sure when I went shopping at a mall last. And we were gone for about 5 hours.

The afternoon began when we went through the drive-thru for gingerbread lattes and the barista noticed my three car seats. "Wow! That's a lot of car seats."

"Yes, and it is so wonderful they are empty." And it was really wonderful. We both tried hard not to talk about our children. We love our children but I find I like them more when I have a break now and then.

I literally haven't shopped like that since I was single. And at the end of the day, I bought a pair of shoes with a birthday gift certificate (thank you Aunt M) and used some birthday money at The Body Shop. By 5pm, I was so tired I wanted to drop. But a little girlfriend time was just what I needed.

Glad you were able to get some time for a "sanity saver".

Ah...a break from the kids. What bliss! That's a gift in and of itself! :) I'm glad you got to get away for a few hours.
