This is Mike's holiday. He loves hosting Thanksgiving. He spent last night preparing turkey and stuffing with two little apprentices who were totally unfazed by turkey gizzards while their mom went far away. Now he is preparing potatoes. He cleaned all the floors. Lest you think I don't contribute anything, I did spend the night with a teething (nearly) 1-yr old and I cleaned a bathroom. But I am really getting the best end of the deal.
Ben told me recently he would like to be a scientist or a historian someday. His favorite subject is history, which for his mom who has a degree in Humanities with a history emphasis, this was sweet music to my ears.
My daughter woke up and wanted to wear her fanciest dress today. I convinced her to stick with a skirt, but I have to love her for being a person who wants to celebrate. Then she published this post when I'd written less than a paragraph and it was apparently up like that all day.
My baby was left in her crib to cry for too long this afternoon when she woke up from a short nap. Her grandpa found her and she babbled at us for about 20 minutes to let us know how horrible it is to be left in your bed when you want to be awake on Thanksgiving.
I'm grateful. For each of these special people who have made my life so full and rich that I need to go take a nap just thinking about it.
Happy Thanksgiving!
