September 10, 2001

Inspired by my Daily Guidepost reading last night

Remember the innocent days? Remember flying without noticing who you were flying with? Without security checks? When you could go to the gate to meet your loved one? We had no idea on September 10, 2001, how our worlds would change.

I flew to Dallas, Texas, on Sept. 10, 2001 and thought nothing of it. Security was a breeze. I slept soundly  in a hotel that night. Terrorists existed in other places but they weren't people I gave a whole lot of thought too.

We all have those dates as individuals when the world changed, when it felt like the bottom dropped out, when we came face to face with evil.

But this is the day that my generation in the United States faced it collectively.

For my generation: the Kennedy brothers and Martin Luther King.

Very nostalgic musings, Rachelle - I do remember meeting arriving friends and family at the gate - also being dropped off at the front to check in luggage and get boarding passes while the car was being parked, and agreeing to "meet you at the gate." So sad that those days are gone!
