We're a month in to homeownership and we've become great customers at our neighborhood Lowe's. Today Mike installed a garbage disposal (YAY!) for me. We had a month with no mortgage payment and that money has been eaten up with a million little things like a screen door, doorbell, outlet covers, patio chair, paint, a new toilet seat, and....You get the idea.
Fortunately, we used a great program called Home Benefits Plus which gave us back 25% of our side of the real estate transaction. That amounted to $1300+ which replenished our savings. The program was great and we highly recommend both it and our lendor.
We hope to have a housewarming sometime in July but we have still have some things to accomplish before then. And we have work to do for years to come.

Wow! I have never had anyone recommend a lender!! It can be such a shady business! That's awesome.
