Archeology dig

I graduated from a college with a large education program. The jokes about the elementary ed majors were abundant and a common complaint was that their GPAs were inflated. As a secondary education major told me: "How do you fail a class where your final is 'Build a national park out of straws and toothpicks'? Those of us writing 30-pg research papers weren't always appreciative of these assignments.

Today I arranged an archeological dig. And I laughed. I never planned on teaching elementary ed. But the assignment was helpful in demonstrating what we learn in history and archeology to Ben. And Kyri was a willing assistant.

Ben concluded that these people have been in our backyard in the recent past: a baby, a girl, probably a boy, and a golfer. And a plug for these great gardening tools for kids from Discovery Toys. They are sturdy little diggers and perfect for little hands.

It is wonderful to see them playing and learning in their own yard. What a joy it must be for you.

Dawson's birthday in October is a Dinosaur theme, and we'll be having an archeology dig in the backyard with his friends! Looks like lots of fun!
