Day 39

It is noon here in western Washington. A storm warning has been in effect and properly, just a few minutes ago, the wind kicked up, the sky darkened, and I'm watching the light pole shake. It sends chills down my spine. So fitting for this day, Good Friday.

And it is Good. It is the greatest love we can know. That God would lay down His life for us.

I love the Scripture readings for today. I think the translation of Lamentations into English is so beautiful....I love especially:
Through the Lord's mercies
we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
(Lam. 3:22-23)
and
The Lord is good to those
who wait for Him,
To the soul who seeks Him.
It is good that one should hope
and wait quietly
For the salvation of the Lord.
(Lam. 3:25-26)
And the day in a nutshell....
...you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot. (1 Peter. 1:18-19)

Without Good Friday, there is no Easter. Without His death, there is no salvation. This is the day when God declared that His love for us is endless.

And on this afternoon of being tired of having responsibilities, I needed this reminder.

Thanks.
