Do you show your wonders to the dead?
Do those who are dead rise up and praise you?
Is your love declared in the grave,
your faithfulness in Destruction? - Ps. 88:10-11
I love the Psalms. I love how real they are when the Psalmist(s) calls on God to destroy his enemies or cries out in utter anguish. I can relate to a sense of drama and strong feelings about life.
But this passage struck me today. Because, of course, God did show his wonders to the dead and indeed, the dead did rise up and praise Him. And yes, the love of God was declared in the grave and His faithfulness in destruction. The death and resurrection of Jesus came later and the Psalmist didn't see God's plan as he cried out about this.
Sometimes I just need to trust that I don't know the plan. And quit whining.
