Day 3

Ben and I talked about Lent on Wednesday and what it means. I told him that I was not going to eat sugar during Lent. He quickly volunteered to join me. I didn't see the need for that and I won't force him to keep going if he loses interest. But I did resolve to help him make that choice.

After dinner, he asked for "a treat."

"I thought you weren't eating sugar?"

"I was thinking a cheese stick."

Then yesterday he ate a packet of oatmeal and when I asked him what he had for breakfast, I reminded him that those packets had sugar. Along with most of the cereals.

So this morning I asked him what he wanted for breakfast. No reminders.

"Oatmeal. The kind without sugar," he said.

Now if it was just giving up sugar, that would be one thing. But he's also been joining me in prayers and Bible reading each morning. And I'm so humbled.

Even a little child will lead them.

Thanks for posting your Lent journey. I'm enjoying taking it with you. Although I'm not as good company as Ben, obviously! He's such a remarkable child.

Not to say that Kyri isn't a remarkable child, which she most definitely is. :)

I am glad you have him to accompany you-- he seems like the perfect companion. (next to God of course.) :D

All journeys are easier when you have a companion on the walk with you. Good for Ben, and good for you. The sugar monster is a hard one to beat. I will be praying for you.

how cool! you have a built-in accountability partner (at least for now).

Wow, that's so cool. I'm so proud of Ben. He's growing up so fast! And what an encouragement for his Mom. :)
