The Woes of Motherhood

This was Mike's first day back to work in quite some time....He was on vacation for four weeks, with the exception of one day he went in to work when the kids were at my mom's.

I determined to get up and shower before he left. Didn't happen. Something about being up every hour and a half all night long. So then I took a hurried shower hoping the baby didn't cry and Kyri didn't disobey my strict instructions that she was not to touch her while I was in the shower. So far, so good.

Mid-morning I managed to change the voice mail message on my cell phone saying my brother was on vacation until today. And then in an effort to answer all his calls today, I placed the phone in my bathrobe pocket. (Yes, I was still in my bathrobe.) And within the hour Everleigh threw up on my bathrobe and I threw it in with the load of laundry I was just starting. You get the picture. Trying everything I can think of to dry it out, but it looks like a non-budgeted expense. I'm thinking of starting a new budget category: Fallen Nature, for things like speeding tickets and ruined cell phones.

I heard if you put in in a bag with rice the rice will soak up the water from the inside of the phone...it's worth a try...Tim had told me a golfer tried it with either his phone or his ipod and it worked.

Hi Rachelle,
I have tried the whole phone-in-rice thing and it did work! In about 3 hours time the phone was doing great. My 3yo dropped it in a pan on the counter that was soaking...full of water, soap, and chicken grease. 8-O

Kevin was off for a week and I find myself wondering how I'm going to manage now that he's back. It's a fact: some days (or months?) motherhood is all about just trying to survive. My thoughts and empathy are with you!
