So my Canon PowerShot s1 IS digital camera will no longer download pictures. It just gives this tired little sound. We tried and it isn't the cord and it isn't the computer. It's the camera. And there is no one in town who works on digital cameras. So I decided to send it to the company. Only the estimate was $149. Not at all what I had in mind. Nor did I plan on buying a new digital camera this year. I am tempted to start a rant about our consumeristic Made in China throwaway culture. But instead....Any ideas?

Will the camera still take pictures? If it does, what I recommend is investing in a USB card reader (like this: http://www.supermediastore.com/cardreader.html) They're pretty cheap - I think I spent like $7 (including shipping). The great think about them is they're small and you don't have to worry about cords, etc. This is all assuming your camera is still able to actually take pictures... good luck!
Thanks Rachel! I will check that out.
