22 Weeks and Life

Yesterday I saw the midwife. Everything is going well....The only bad news is that I gained 8 lbs in four weeks. I had only gained 4 (total) at 18 weeks. But I know myself well enough to know that I gain a lot more at the end and I need to start being a little more careful.

After our appointment we made a trip to Babys'r'us to shop for Baby Kylie. We invited Ben and Kyri to help us which was a big mistake. Ben thought we had won one of those everything you can get in your basket prizes and was just tossing whatever he could find in as fast as he could. I was saying, "No, no, no, put this back. And this. And this." Meanwhile, Mike was on a work call on his cell phone. Kyri picked out a baby doll which I thought was so very sweet. Until I realized she thought that she should get something for going along on this venture and the doll was for her. Before we left the store, we had put the doll back, most of Ben's choices. Mike exited the store with kids while I paid so to end the wild shopping spree then.

We started a new schedule this week and I was doing so well at getting everything done and spending more time with the kids. I was feeling proud of myself. Then Weds. I took time to clean the bathrooms and during that time Kyri took a yellow highlighter to the computer monitor, her face and stomach, and her brother's face and stomach. Since then, they've both been bent on destruction. And now I'm just tired. The schedule has been all off for the last two days as I simply try to keep up. Kyri's nap time has come earlier and earlier as I've had to plunk her in the crib to stop her from demolishing the house. Then she's awake in the afternoon when I need some quiet time. UGH. (Blogging doesn't fit into the schedule at this time and as I write this I have one child saying "mom, mom, mom" repeatedly in my ear because he wants the computer and the other climbing all over the desk, covering the monitor with paper, and otherwise just making me tired.) Ah life. It is real, it is unscheduled, and I should be doing something more productive now.

I'm reminded of my new favorite quote: "The days are long, but the years are short." I can certainly empathize. Glad to hear the baby is doing well!

Two weeks ago Billy went back to work so I had a new schedule and everything was running remarkably smoothly. Then this past week Dan and Mikea both decided to start climbing out of their cribs during nap. So it's been a lot harder getting them to sleep which then throws the rest of the day off . . . Just when we think we have it figured out!
