A Fun Visit

Last week my first college roommate, Dia, and her daughter, Elizabeth, 12, and son, Matthew, almost 8, came for a quick visit. It had been more than two years since we had seen each other which was the longest stretch we've ever gone in the (gasp!) nearly 20 years we have known each other.

During the 24 hours we got to spend time together, her husband didn't even bother to call her. He texted her with things like, "Don't forget to breathe between sentences." I had fun telling her daughter things she didn't know about her mom and we took an outing to the State Capitol and the Waterfront and then let the kids swim in the lake.
Kyri was born on Elizabeth's 10th birthday and after a "cool" period, Kyri started trailing Elizabeth wherever she went, often calling, "Where are you?" Ben adored Matthew but Matthew didn't enjoy the adoration as much as Elizabeth did. There is nothing like a visit from an old and dear friend, and I hope we don't have to wait two years to visit again.

What fun! I'm so glad you got to do that. Looks like the kids had a reasonably good time as well. =)
