Ben's natural academic nature continues to stun me. He will often attempt things that seem hard for him and I will tell him that he doesn't understand it yet and we will try again later. This seems to motivate him. Math has been harder for him (than reading) and so I put away the math games. This has resulted in him walking around the house muttering addition problems. He loves nothing more than sitting down and working on Logic problems or having me read poetry to him. For a mother who loves to teach, this is sheer bliss. My goal for myself remains to do no more than 30 minutes of it a day. He has plenty happening in his head right now.
Kyri loves to dance and paint and draw. Today she tackled the walls and carpet with a Sharpie. (I've added Sharpie ink to the red stuff that won't come out of the carpet despite all my attempts with amazing cleaners. Thank goodness for Mr. Eraser for the walls.) She strikes a ballerina pose that she didn't learn from me. She loves princesses and dolls. She is very different from me, which is far more interesting. With all her artistic and practical abilities I was surprised to hear her counting today. She can count to five at least and perhaps further. She also wants to sing the alphabet song all the time. Ben is helping her with phonics so I probably won't have to teach her to read either.
