Thanks to Ben

We are three weeks in to a more scheduled existence. I'm loving it. I accomplish more and feel more rested every day. Ben and Kyri are also loving the structure of knowing what's next. We have a little flex, particularly in the morning but for the most part they can look at the clock and anticipate what is coming. Ben keeps me on task if I start to do something else.

Probably the biggest change this has brought about is less time to talk on the phone and less (but enough) computer time. I'm ok with that. By the time Mike comes home, I have accomplished the routine household things, plus a cleaning task, done an activity with Kyri, played a game with Ben, read to him for 30 minutes, and spent 30-45 minutes on preschool activities, and I'm making dinner. Oh, and I manage about an hour to myself to read or blog or nap.

Of course it helps that Ben has discovered the joys of obeying his mom (and earning rewards for it). And that Kyri has demonstrated that she can help empty and load the dishwasher. And that I decided not to leave the house in the daytime for a few months when our evenings are so full.

Did I miss something? This all sounds great but did you start something new? (Der, Carrie, you must have . . .) At any rate, glad things are going well so! I feel strangely out of the loop.

This is great! I am so happy to hear the relief in your voice to have structure and order to your life. It sounds like the kids are enjoying it too. :)

We'll have to schedule a chat sometime in the next couple weeks.

I would really love to see your schedule/routine, Rachelle. Could you post it or e-mail it to me? I'm trying to get more structure in our day too. I've been getting up an hour earlier than I want to get up (which has really helped) but there are so many times in a given day when Meredith seems bored and I wish we had more structure. So I'm going to write out a tentative schedule, allowing for free time, and I'd really, really love to see yours! Thanks. :)
